BOUTIQUE LODGING IN the mountains

We partnered with Waukeshaw Development to develop a visual identity for a 30-room hotel opening in a former school complex. The hotel is a fixture in the town of Bedford, VA–a Mission-style gem of a school building beloved by the local community. The project presented a unique opportunity to take nods from the historic architectural styles of the existing structure and give the brand a sense that it had always been there.

We built custom typography from the ground up, celebrating the fine details of the craftsman style and pulling directly from existing typography on the facade of the building. Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Peaks of Otter, this boutique hotel is a celebration of local animal life with an upscale camping feel. We partnered with Mustard Beetle to create a set of animal illustrations to complement the brand.
